Review:Songs and Fingerplays for the Early Years published by Prim Ed

This book is absolutely the cutest book I have reviewed! I teach senior infants so I was keen to review this book for Prim-Ed. Having read through it and used some of the activities in my class, I would recommend this book is best suited to a Junior Infant class or a pre-school setting.

The book is broken up into common preschool themes like All about me, animals, families, maths, science, school and seasonal celebrations. Within each of those themes, there are topics including photocopiable rhymes, fingerplays, poems and craft activity ideas for the classroom. Some of these would be suitable for parents who want to encourage song, fingerplay and rhyming at home with their own children.

The book contains more than 70 original and classical songs and fingerplays so it is excellent value and something the Infant teacher would use for many years. The book also contains a checklist for fine and gross motor skills, maths, language and social skills and I found these would be useful for conveying information to parents.

The book costs €24.95 and are available from www.prim-ed.com to order as a print copy or as an ebook.

As part of the review process, I received a complimentary copy of this book. I did not receive any payment for this review and they are my own honest opinions.
