The Irish Times had a headline a couple of weeks ago “Sharp drop in primary pupils using computers in school” which caught my eye. For those of you listening in the future, this headline was written in November 2019 – a time when technology use is ubiquitous in the world and usage in homes is increasing by the day with fibre being finally rolled out to almost every home.In any case, it was a headline that really grabbed by attention. Given my background in technology, this might not come as a surprise to any of you that know me. However, what might surprise you is that I was not surprised at all by it. In this episode, I’m going to be exploring why technology use in schools is on the decline, what we can do about it, and remind ourselves that technology should remain a methodology and not a separate subject.
