A school got in contact with me who have a website made with Weebly but they want to give each student an email address using G Suite. Presumably, the website has a domain address; so let’s call this school “Scoil Simon” and their website is scoilsimon.ie
The school needs to set themselves up using G Suite for Education rather than setting up a single email address. To do this, you need to set yourself up on on G Suite for Education by going to https://edu.google.com/products/productivity-tools/
You have to prove you are a school by sending on documentation on headed paper but you can also try giving them a call on their help page if that doesn’t work. Google gets a little bit confused by schools not run by government agencies or local education boards. As almost all Irish primary school are privately run boards, the process isn’t always straightforward.
Given that the website was made in Weebly, I am assuming the domain is hosted by Weebly. Rather than copying and pasting from Google’s own helpdesk, the following link will give you step by step instructions on what to do. https://support.google.com/a/answer/7027755?hl=en . If you aren’t using Weebly, follow the directions from your website’s host.
Once both of the above have been set up, you can add as many users as you want to your domain and they will all have an email address [email protected]
It’s probably a good idea to set up sub organisations within your domain – one for staff and one for pupils but that’s for another article!
