Ireland is a funny country. The Department of Education has a large selection of quangos that do loads of different jobs but none of them make curriculum content.
If an Irish teacher is looking for an ICT resource to compliment a lesson, it’s almost certain that the teacher will visit a different country’s content and adapt it to an Irish context. The only people making Irish curriculum content seem to be the textbook companies. How mad can Ireland be that a tiny country can support almost half a dozen companies!
I would suggest that the Irish government begin creating content for the curriculum that teachers can use. It should be better than anything already out there. Other countries have done it easily enough so why can’t we?
