The Anseo.net Newsletter features my thoughts on the Irish Primary Education System.
While all eyes are on the year ahead, Norma Foley seems focused on one issue. It’s not the teacher shortage, nor is it special education. Despite not a single school allowing their use, it’s mobile phones in schools. One thing’s for sure, you won’t find them in a teacher’s stocking!
To be fair to the Minister, much like in the UK, she is also dealing with gender identity and how that’s taught in schools.
As we welcome Ukrainian pupils in our schools, we also welcomed new Irish citizens, but why is this year’s ceremony not as widely celebrated?
The growing paranoia that Catholicism is under threat is simply untrue, and we’re thankfully not reacting like certain parts of America. We still bless aeroplanes after all! Also, after almost two years of trying to find out, I reveal how much the State are paying the Catholic Church for the reconfiguration process. I think the church is safe enough.
Finally, as Norma Foley decides to survey parents yet again about patronage, the biggest question of all: is school choice like buying a chicken and stuffing sandwich? It would make you go cluckin’ mad!

Twitter (now X) may be a difficult place these days but there are still a lot of good conversations and commentary in there. Here are some posts that caught my eye.
