Anseo.net has grown from humble beginnings as a basic resource-sharing web site in April 2005 before becoming one of the first educational blogs in Ireland by 2007. It is run by Simon Lewis, a primary school principal, living in Carlow.

The aim of Anseo.net is to give an independent voice in order to make positive changes to our primary education system. Simon actively campaigns for equality in primary education and also champions innovative practices. Irish education has suffered since the recession with different interests being pitted against each other. Simon believes we need to simplify our primary education system in order that all pupils and teachers in Ireland are treated with equal respect. When it comes to any divisive issue, his goal is to find out ways where everybody wins.

Anseo.net is not a commercial website and does not sell anything. The site is part of Arukas Limited, a company where Simon is a co-director. The website’s small costs are funded through this company.

Simon Lewis is the principal of Carlow Educate Together National School. Over the last 15 years, he has given talks and courses to teachers, agencies and businesses in all aspects of ICT in education. He also works with universities and colleges through lecturing and supervising theses. Simon has worked with several agencies to advise on their use of ICT including the NIPT, Educate Together, Hibernia College and INTO. He has also authored and contributed to a number of educational books and magazines and educational software.

Simon has designed a number of web sites and has won several awards, including Scoilnet Star Sites and Edublog Awards. He also guest writes for several agencies including Teachnet. Simon also runs Mash.ie, a website that encourages teachers to share their resources and ideas online. Outside of the education sphere, Simon enjoys running and poetry but not at the same time.

    1. Hi there

Have you a list of podcast titles. I can see the images but have to tap into each one individually to find out what it is about. I’m on a phone.

      • Thanks, Sarah. Great point. I have an alternative layout to Anseo but since most people probably use phones rather than laptops these days, I might make that the default option. I just have to make it look prettier than it currently does!
