Talks have broken down

So, I heard today that talks have broken down between our social partners and our “leader” Brian Cohen….
What will happen next? Let me predict the worse..
Pay cuts
Pension levy-which we cannot be sure will even be there for us when we retire.
Teacher job losses
The future looks dismal and even more dismal for the teaching profession. Next year there will be stiff, stiff competition for jobs in the teaching sector. Will this make us start to appreciate out jobs more? Maybe, we can stop and reevaluate the reasons why we went into teaching. To be honest, the majority of teachers might say “security”, while others might say ” holidays”, others could say “pay”. The question I want to ask is would any teachers who are in a teaching position say the reason they originally went into teaching as ” love of educating and children”, ” working in a dynamic and innovative atmosphere”.
Maybe there are other complex reasons and I am not going to reveal mine as it may prove to be a bias!
It would be interesting to see if the reasons we had for going into teaching are the same as the trainee teachers in colleges now or even the students in Junior Cert or Leaving Cert now.
Anyway, click on your main answer and let’s see what we come up with!
